Life Update

I haven't been committed to posting in a while because I've been distracted by a few things:
  • Making headbands for my sister's quidditch team
  • Making cute non-sporty headbands for my friends
  • Working at my new job
Yes, that's right. I finally got a paying job and the best part is that I am working for a company that I truly adore, Purl Soho. What more could I ask for? I'm surrounded by energetic people and yarn, two of the most wonderful things that make me happy in life. I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity.

The greatest thing about blogging is that I can post at my own pace. Anyone can. The flexibility is what makes blogging a highly rewarding, albeit time-consuming, experience.

Stay tuned friends, I still have so much to share with you!

Sup nm u?

Well thanks for asking!

1) I spent today modifying the social media buttons on my blog. The icons are in a single row under my Follow Me section and are all the same height. Beautiful.

2) I added a Pinterest Pin It button image hover. This is probably the coolest thing I did today. Now all of my images can be conveniently pinned just by hovering over the image with your mouse. Want to find out how? BloggerSentral. Thank you for based code!

3) I started my Health Blog! This is where I'll post all of my recipes and tid bits on natural remedies. Cheers to good health, friends!

Massage Therapy

Are you a fellow neck/shoulder pain sufferer?

I LOVE to knit and crochet. These hobbies require a huge time investment, so it's not uncommon for me to sit in the same position for a few hours . Not surprisingly, my neck muscles (mostly my trapezius) feel sore, sometimes for hours, after completing a project.

Here are some quick tips I've learned for decreasing my neck pain:
  • Become more aware of your posture. Mindfulness is extremely important. Do you slouch when you sit? Notice the curvature of your back and notice the location of your arms and your shoulders. Notice how your body feels. I looked at old pictures of myself and was found guilty of slouching. This helped me realize that I needed to change my behavior.
  • Take small breaks. Stretch and do yoga. Lengthen your neck muscles and embrace the stretch. Keep your muscles active. See the link for target stretches.
  • Get a massage. See your local massage therapist or get close and comfy with your iron-fisted friend. Use a foam roller and tennis balls for a DIY massage.
  • Drink water. Drink plenty.
This is something that can benefit you FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. If you are in pain, please don't hesitate to help yourself.
